<![CDATA[Kim Stinson ~ Playwright - Blog]]>Sat, 25 May 2013 20:02:07 -0800Weebly<![CDATA[NC New Play Project]]>Sat, 21 Apr 2012 13:47:09 GMThttp://kimstinson.com/1/post/2012/04/nc-new-play-project.htmlThe performance of Appalachian Geisha by 3rd Stage Theatre Company at the City Arts Center in Greensboro, NC went well last weekend. Well, until one of the chorus members got sick . . . The director had to step in, script in hand, and fill the role during the last performance, which I didn't get to see. Although, I hear it went well.

The actors, set designer, director, stage manager and crew all did a great job. The actors were great & were effective at finding the humor in the piece. It's great to see something I wrote come to life through collaboration.

Another rewarding thing was that I had a couple of audience members talk to me after the show when they found out that I wrote it (they didn't turn and run off in the other direction trying to avoid me . . . ). One person specifically thanked me for having an explanation in the play that Geisha are not prostitutes because she always thought that they are. So, it was great to write words that people thought were funny, but it was even more rewarding to know that someone's stereotypes were changed by my words.

Thanks to everyone involved with the show! You guys are all fantastic!

Now, what kind of cheese will I consume today? I think there's some brie in the refrigerator . . .

<![CDATA[Wow.]]>Fri, 17 Feb 2012 17:35:34 GMThttp://kimstinson.com/1/post/2012/02/wow.htmlHmm, gee. Months since I thought to blog on my website that I should be using for professional development to help get my work produced - - or something . . . soooo unlike me.

<![CDATA[I remembered to blog!]]>Tue, 12 Apr 2011 16:09:09 GMThttp://kimstinson.com/1/post/2011/04/i-remembered-to-blog.htmlOkay, yeah, so it's two months after the last post, but hey, that's better than I usually do. So, cheese or theatre?

Well . . . I got nothing right now except a bit of shredded cheese in my refrigerator. Found mold on the sliced cheese yesterday and had to throw it out.

Theatre wise . . . saw a good stage production of Noises Off recently. Hungering for a trip to see the tour of Avenue Q, but not sure if I can get there.

Also, looking forward to the end of the semester so that I can spend time writing instead of grading.

I'll try to be more illuminating next time . . .

Gorgonzola!

<![CDATA[Cheese]]>Sun, 06 Feb 2011 15:26:23 GMThttp://kimstinson.com/1/post/2011/02/cheese.htmlWell, to answer the anonymous person (since I have no idea who she is and have never, ever met her. There is no possible way she is someone I've known since high school . . .) who asked about what kind of cheese would be the subject of my blog posts, I must say that any cheese is fair game--soft, hard, or plastic.

Cheese may even be the topic of my next play . . .

<![CDATA[First Blog Post! Yeah . . .]]>Sun, 06 Feb 2011 13:49:44 GMThttp://kimstinson.com/1/post/2011/02/first-post.htmlThis is where I might start writing blog entries. But, hey, I'll be honest: I'm blog challenged. I can do it, sure. But will I remember to do it?

And, when I do remember to do it what weirdness will it contain? Probably something to make you run screaming into the woods, never to return to this page . . . On a good day, I might have something cool to say about theatre. Or cheese.
